Hello there. My name is Freddie and welcome to my teaching profile...
[I'm back on Verbling and taking on new students after completing a university research project into motivation - ask me for further information]
I am a highly qualified and very experienced teacher, lecturer, Director of Studies, examiner, entrepreneur and award-winning volunteer, mentor, and, university ambassador. I run my own teaching website and work as a freelance teacher, teaching for multiple institutions in the UK and overseas - while simultaneously pursuing entrepreneurial and voluntary activities. I also run the teaching website: Focus on Learning.
I hold a BA (Hons) degree in Philosophy, the Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK. I am currently completing my the final part of Masters in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (MA TESOL), with British Council TEFL-Q Status, and I am on course to graduate with distinction. I am an experienced and qualified examiner holding the Cambridge Certificate in the Concepts and Contexts of Assessment (CCCA) and examined for Cambridge Assessment for over five years. I also have an Enhanced Criminal Records Bureau disclosure (DBS) certificate.
I have over 10 years teaching experience, teaching children and adults, across 12 different countries; in primary schools, secondary schools, and, universities. My teaching has consistently been assessed at ‘Very Good’, ‘Outstanding’ or ‘Distinction’ level. I have taught in countries including: Austria, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Bulgaria, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. As Director of Studies, I have managed large teams of teachers internationally. I mentor undergraduate and postgraduate students at two different UK universities. I won the 2017/18 Mentor of the Year Award at the University of Kent.
Services and specialisms:
General English, conversational English, exam preparation (including IELTS, Cambridge exams, GCSE and A-level), English for Academic Purposes (EAP), Teacher Training, business English, university entry, CV support, applications and interview preparation. Additionally, if you are interested in business or career development this is another speciality of mine. Let me know what you want and I will help you achieve it.
Every student is individual and unique; no two classes are the same - a key part of what I love about teaching - so I tailor my lessons to my students’ specific needs. I think language should first and foremostly be about communication, while also covering all skill sets. I love learning for its own sake though I have a lot of exam experience.
Personally, I love drinking tea (black, with milk of course) combined with any of the following: business, economics, entrepreneurship, trading, philosophy, politics, travel, writing and good food. For fun I play board games, read, go to pub quizzes and socialise. I love travel and culture (taking plenty of photos) and have travelled extensively around mainland Europe.
Send me a message and let me know what you would like and I will tailor my lessons to your specific needs. I look forward to helping you achieve your goals.
