Over the last 20 years I have enjoyed traveling the world and meeting and communicating with a diverse range of people. Off and on throughout that time I helped to support myself by teaching English. I have taught lessons to large and small groups as well as tutored children and adults one on one. In any context, my approach is generally the same: try to get the student to communicate. While every learner is different and their cultures vary widely, I see my role as a motivator not a lecturer! The most effective means that I've found to motivate my students is to try and have fun, get them talking and not focus overly on errors. My techniques may vary towards how to teach the four realms of fluency: reading, writing, listening and speaking. However, no matter the age of my students, games will be played to make the learning process more engaging.
My history of teaching English is fortified by a college degree in linguistics from The Evergreen State College and a certificate in TESOL from Seattle Pacific University. With Verbling I aim to put all of my experiences and qualifications to good use!
Studied the evolution and sociology of spoken communication and its manifestations in languages around the world.
